Easy Banana Chocolate Chip Bread sliced on a wooden board.

Easy Banana Chocolate Chip Bread – this one bowl banana bread recipe takes about 10 minutes to prep! It’s one of the best banana bread recipes I’ve tried!

This Easy Banana Chocolate Chip Bread is one of those recipes that you can pull together in about 10 minutes.

I like to think of it as the perfect sunday afternoon recipe. I’ll be relaxing around the house and I’ll decide that I want banana bread. 10 minutes later, the bread is prepared and baking in the oven. And the best part? This banana bread is made in one bowl, so you’ll have less dishes to clean!

To be exact you’ll probably have one mixing bowl, one spatula, the 1/2 cup, the 1/3 cup, the 1 cup, and the teaspoon to clean. If you’re really wanting to cut corners, skip the 1 cup and just use the half cup twice :)

Making Easy Banana Chocolate Chip Bread

I thought it was pretty standard to put chocolate chips in banana bread. That’s how I grew up eating it. But then I met someone who’s mind was blown when I told them that I put chocolate chips in my banana bread. It’s funny because I don’t think I’ve ever made banana bread without chocolate chips.

That would be like making a PB&J without the jelly, it just doesn’t seem right :)

But if you really prefer your banana bread without chocolate chips, you can (gasp!) skip them.

If you’re all about the chocolate chips, lets do an air high five! But, I do have this teeny tiny weird obsession about banana bread and chocolate chips. I must use mini chocolate chips.

That way the chips are evenly distributed and I don’t end up with a large pile of melted chocolate in one area. If you only have regular chocolate chips on hand, you can give them a quick chop on a cutting board to get them into smaller pieces.

We also love making this Easy Banana Chocolate Chip Bread into banana bread muffins. That will cut the baking time down to about 15-20 minutes. I think you’ll fall in love with how easy this recipe is and how much it reminds you of the bread your mom or Grandma used to bake!

  1. ONE bowl? I’m sold! Banana bread is one of my favorite snacks, especially with chocolate chips!

  2. I literally have brown bananas on my cupboard – I can’t wait to make this bread!! Pinned!

  3. This is how I make banana bread too. Love the chocolate chip addition! Have a good weekend, Beth :)

  4. Just made this, but substituted the veggie oil with coconut oil, and also added organic coconut flakes….topped the bread with extra deliciousness of chocolate chips and coconut flakes. So yummmmy

  5. I made this banana bread over the weekend and it came out delicious! I love hoe easy it was and my favorite part was that it was all done in one bowl. I didn’t have white flour so i used whole wheat pastry flour and I didn’t even taste a different. I also loved how this recipe had oil instead of butter…thank you for sharing! We really enjoyed it!

  6. Made this last night (into 10 good size muffins) and they are delicious!! I saw ‘one bowl and 10 minute prep’ and was sold! I only had 2 large ripe bananas but that was still plenty. I had regular size semi-sweet chocolate chips, but I chopped them a little and it was fine. I couldn’t be happier with this simple recipe! Thanks. :)

  7. Love this recipe! Use it every time both with and without chocolate chips. Stays so moist. Good for days…although it doesn’t usually last more than one or two! If your kids are like mine and are weird about chunks in banana bread, I just toss mine into my food processor for a few pulses–just enough to get them to mix well and not be chunky. Works well and gives cakes and breads a nice texture. Plus, it’s much easier than mushing them yourself!

  8. I made muffins and left out the chocolate chips.  The flavor was great, but they turned out a little dry.  Any suggestions on how to fix that?
