Ingredients

To make pineapple whipped cream you need heavy cream, powdered sugar and a packet of pineapple jello!

If you’re looking to buy pineapple jello, Jello brand sells an island pineapple flavor. Some stores carry it and others don’t. However, walmart has their own brand (great value) and they have a pineapple flavor that you can find in store!

How to make pineapple whipped cream frosting

1. Chill a metal mixing bowl and beaters in freezer for 15 minutes.

You’re wondering if this step is necessary. I have made whipped cream by sort of chilling the bowl ahead of time.. meaning last minute I stick it in the freezer or I pull it out of the freezer too early and by the time I actually whip the cream, the bowl isn’t chilled anymore.

Here’s what I’ve observed – chilling the bowl and beaters ahead of time produces whipped cream that has stiffer peaks (that’s a fancy way of saying it’s more stable).

Overall, I do recommend chilling these items ahead of time.

2. Beat the ingredients

Put all ingredients in the chilled bowl and beat with an electric mixer for 4-5 minutes, or until stiff peaks form / it’s scoopable with a spoon and holds its shape.

What to use pineapple whipped cream on

Use pineapple whipped cream as frosting for cake and cupcakes. Use it as a topping on pie. Use it as fruit dip (yum!).

Try it as a frosting on doctored up white cake, pineapple upside down cake, orange cake, or a whipped topping with angel food cake or angel food cake cupcakes.

Top your favorite fruity drink with it too! We have a recipe for pina colada sangria that is a summer favorite! Or try 3 ingredient pineapple whip smoothie with pineapple whipped cream.

  1. Can you use instant pudding instead of jello in this recipe to make other flavors like chocolate, butterscotch etc.?

  2. Have you tried using all 3oz of the jello packet to make it more stable? I’d love to try this for an upcoming birthday party outside.

    1. Hi Rachel! I think using the whole jello packet would make it really sweet. Kids might like it, but I’m not sure about adults.

  3. Hey there! I don’t happen to have any pineapple jello on hand. I am sure I could get some, but do you think there are any substitutions that would produce the same results?
    Thanks for sharing your recipes!

    1. Hi Briana! The jello mix is crucial in this recipe for providing flavor without adding additional liquid.

  4. Hi! Do you think this recipe would be stable enough to frost an 8 inch round cake? Or would you recommend making any adjustments?

    1. I would recommend adding melted gelatin to the whipped cream to give it extra stability for a stacked cake.

      4 tsp water
      1 tsp unflavored gelatin

Add the water to a small bowl. Sprinkle the gelatin over the water and let it sit for a few minutes. Microwave the bowl for a few seconds, until the gelatin is dissolved, stir until uniform consistency. Add this to the rest of the ingredients and beat together.
