These fruit and jello cups are perfect for 4th of July. You can easily make a whole bunch to serve a crowd. And the best part is that they are easy enough to prepare so you could make them a day in advance and cover the glasses with plastic wrap after the jello sets or you could make them about 2 hours before you want to serve them.

If you’re bringing them to a party, you could even assemble them there in a matter of minutes. Just bring along some cool whip, a piping bag and tip, blueberries and chopped strawberries.

4th of July Fruit & Jello Cups

These red, white and blue fruit and jello cups are an easy 4th of July dessert! You only need 6 ingredients to make this patriotic dessert. Family friendly 4th of July jello shots or make boozy jello cups!

Ingredients

  • Strawberry Jello
  • Berry Blue Jello
  • Water
  • Cool whip
  • Blueberries
  • Strawberries, chopped

Instructions

  • For each packet of jello, prepare using 1 cup of boiling water and 1 cup of cold water. You can easily double this recipe – for example if you only wanted to use strawberry jello, you can prepare both boxes of jello at one time in the small bowl, just double the amount of water added.
  • Pour the jello powder into a mixing bowl. Add in 1 cup of boiling water, and stir for 1-2 to dissolve the mixture. Add in 1 cup of cold water, and stir to combine. Evenly divide the jello mixture among the glasses or cups. I chose to fill my glasses halfway full. If you’re using strawberry jello, place chopped strawberry pieces in each glass. If you’re using berry blue jello, place blueberries in each glass.
  • Place the glasses in the refrigerator to set.
  • Before serving, place cool whip in a piping bag fit with a piping tip (I used wilton 2D). Pipe a layer of cool whip on top of the jello. Top each jello cup with either chopped strawberries or blueberries.

Notes

How thick you make the layers will determine how many boxes of jello you’ll need. From one box of jello I got about 4-5 jello cups. Equipment used: Libbey Just Desserts Bowls4th of July Firework Food Picks.

  1. I love all of the festive desserts you come up with! These jello cups are so fun!

  2. These are adorable and so fun Beth!! My son would love these! Haha you sat on your toast. Did you have to change your pants too? Poor thing. I hate mornings that are crazy like that. And I LOVE that you ate your toast still. Awesome! Pinned!!

  3. Love these! Sooo fun and festive! You seriously come up with the cutest ideas, Beth!

  4. I made these last year for my son’s first birthday (he was born on the Fourth of July!) and they were absolutely delicious. The mix of the whipped cream and the jello was so good! The only problem is that the whipped cream melted so it didn’t look so pretty. So I have a couple questions because I want to make them again this year. #1 Last time the party was outdoors with no indoor option. #2 I used Redi-whip instead of Cool Whip. This time I have the option of keeping the dessert inside, so I’ll definitely do that, but do you think the Cool whip will make a difference vs Redi-whip whipped cream? Thanks!

    1. Hey Cindy! Are you able to top the jello cups with whipped cream relatively close to when you’ll be serving them? That would be the best option. Otherwise, maybe homemade stabilized whipped cream would be your best bet.

    2. Yes I can definitely try to top them right before serving. I probably did it too early last time, plus being outdoors did not help. Thanks for your reply!!

    1. You can make the jello portion 2 days in advance – but I would add the whipped cream day of before serving!
