No Bake Oreo Pie with cool whip and cream cheese

Everyone who had a piece of this no bake oreo pie could not get enough. The only question was “can I have some milk?” not “next time can you make this with less oreos?”

I mean, they are America’s favorite cookie for a reason!

You will need 2 packages of oreos to make this easy no bake oreo pie recipe. No judgement, okay?

1 entire package is used to make the oreo crumb crust, then you’ll need to use 12 oreos from the second package for the filling, plus more oreos for the top of the pie. Lots of oreos for the top of the pie!

How to make no bake oreo pie crust

Let’s go layer by layer.

Crust: 1 package oreos (exactly 36 ha – both Oreo brand and generic store brand seem to have 36 in one package, so buy whichever is cheaper!) plus 1 stick of melted butter. Paula Deen would approve.

Gluten free oreo pie

It was really easy to make this No Bake Oreo Pie gluten free by using gluten free oreos. You can buy gluten free oreos at the grocery store or on amazon. All of the other ingredients in the recipe are naturally gluten free, but sadly not calorie free, haha.

Frozen or refrigerated no bake oreo pie

Now that I’ve made this easy oreo pie a few times, I’ve discovered that I prefer it frozen rather then just refrigerated. Even when “frozen” the filling is still creamy and easy to cut through, the only thing that gives a little trouble to cut through is the oreo crust. But I figure I can dish out a little elbow grease for a piece of pie.

Easy to make no bake oreo pie with oreo crust! Gluten free option and only 8 ingredients, people LOVE this oreo pie! #oreopie #nobakeoreopie

Yield: one 8-10 inch pie
Cook Time: 1 hour
Total Time: 1 hour

The best no bake oreo pie! Oreo crust, oreo cream cheese filling, chocolate ganache topped with oreos!! The question is.. is there such a thing as too many oreos? I think not :)

Ingredients

  • 2 (14.3 oz) packages of oreos - divided, listed in instructions
  • 1 stick butter, melted
  • two, 8 oz packages of cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 container Cool Whip (8 oz), thawed
  • 1 & 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream

Instructions

Oreo Crust

  1. Process 1 entire package of oreos in a food processor until fine crumbs remain. In a large bowl, combine the crushed oreos with the melted butter. Press this mixture evenly into a 10 inch pie pan. Place in fridge until ready to use.

Filling

  1. In a large mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese with an electric mixer until well blended. Add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract, beat again.
  2. Chop 12 oreos. Mix in the the chopped oreos and cool whip and stir with a spatula until mixed. Spread this mixture on the crust and place in the freezer for 30 minutes.

Chocolate Ganache

  1. Place chocolate chips in a medium heat-proof bowl.
  2. In a small pot over low heat, heat the heavy cream until just before boiling.
  3. Pour the heavy cream over the chocolate chips. Allow the mixture to stand for 1-2 minutes.
  4. Use a spatula to stir the mixture until smooth.
  5. Allow the ganache to come to room temperature before adding it to the pie.

Topping

  1. Before the chocolate hardens, add oreos to the top. Start by adding the halved oreos around the edges, placing them as close or as far apart as you want. Then add chopped oreos to the center of the pie.
  2. Cover the pie with tinfoil and return to the freezer or fridge for 1-2 hours. Before serving, remove the pie from the freezer and let it sit for a few minutes to make cutting it easier. Cover and freeze or refrigerate any leftovers.

Notes

  • Use gluten free oreos to make this a gluten free no bake oreo pie!
  • Adding the oreos to the top of the pie (after the chocolate ganache) is optional!

  1. This pie looks and sounds amazing! I am definitely going to have to try this :)
It’s funny, I absolutely adore Oreos in desserts just not as a biscuit to eat alone.

  2. Thank you so much for sharing this amazing recipe! I made this pie for a work potluck, and won runner-up! :) Although it takes some time to put each layer together, it is very easy and it looks so impressive for the little amount of effort involved. My bf thought it was delicious and texted: “YUMMMMMMMMMMM”. Nuff said! ;)

  3. Could I make this in a spring form pan? I always feel like those are easier to display/serve. Has anyone ever done that?

  4. Sorry but NO good pie could possible have Cool whip as an ingredient. NASTY!

    • If you are opposed to cool whip you could substitute your own homemade whipped cream.

    • I don’t know why people are complaining about the Cool Whip, I just made the filling and it’s delicious!

  5. can we use something else instead of cool whip? i dont have this product where i Live…. thanks

  6. hi! this pie looks delicious and i’m thinking about making this for my sisters birthday, i’m just wondering how many people does it serve?

  7. Ey just want to know must it be in the freezer or can I put it in fridge as well

  8. I have a premade oreo crust I need to use, should I cut the recipe in half since it calls for a 10 inch pan?

    • Your premade oreo crust should work great in this recipe – no need to cut the recipe in half.

  9. Hi! Making this for Christmas!! What kind of chocolate chips – semi sweet or milk chocolate?

  10. I learned to bake with exact measurements-
What is a standard container of cool whip??

  11. I made this for my boyfriend’s birthday. It was delicious and very easy to make. I will be making it again.

  12. Made this with my own whipped cream but it was just way too sweet. Even my kids got sick after one piece. But it was delicious. We did not add all the oreo to the top either, that would be over kill.

  13. Hi!

Thank you for the recipe, looks amazing, planning to make it tomorrow.
Can I ask how many Oreos does a package containe? We have a few versions of Oreo packages and I don’t know how many Oreos do I exactly need to make the pie.

And here where I live there is no such thing is Cool Whip, can I use liquid cream beated to foam instead?

    Thanks!

  14. This looks awesome! I’m bringing a dessert for our July 4th get together. If I double this do you think I could make it in a 9×13 pan?

  15. Could I use pre-made hot fudge topping instead of the chocolate ganache? I don’t have a microwave and I tend to seize my chocolate every time I try a double boiler.

    • Hi Angie! The hot fudge won’t be the same consistency as the chocolate ganache, but I bet it will taste just as good! So I say, go for it!

  16. Why powered sugar over pure cane sugar? I always always get these two sugars confused and it literally makes me panic over the outcome of a recipe lol

    • Great question! Powdered sugar won’t leave a grain-y texture like granulated sugar can! You want the cream cheese layer to be SMOOTH!

  17. Overall the pie turned out pretty good.  It does take a lot of time to make but it’s worth. The only thing that I had a problem with was the cream cheese, it seemed when I tried it had a strong cream cheese taste. Did u do something wrong? I used what the recipe said.

    • Hmmm! There’s enough oreos and sugar in the recipe where it shouldn’t taste overly cream cheese-y.

  18. Could I make this pie ahead of time and freeze it to serve 2 days later or would it not be as good?

  19. We made this for Pi Day and it was a hit!!

  20. Do you take the cream out of the oreos for the crust?

  21. I can’t wait to try this out! How long would you leave the crust in the freezer before adding the cream layer?

    • I just popped the crust in the freezer while I was preparing the next layer, so not super long!

  22. For the chocolate chips, does it matter what kind they are? What kind did you use or find taste better?

  23. THIS WAS AN AMAZING PIE! It was very simple to make and had an awesome taste. I made it for Pi Day. Thanks so much for the recipe. I just had a question. If you want to serve it 3 days after you make it, do you put it in the freezer with tinfoil? Is that okay? Thanks!

  24. I only have a 9″ pie pan/plate, will that be big enough to hold everything?
