What’s in homemade whipped cream
Homemade whipped cream is so easy to make. All it takes is some heavy cream and some powdered sugar. I like to add powdered sugar for 2 reasons. One- it adds a little sweetness to the cream. Two- it adds stability to the cream, allowing the cream to have firmer peaks once whipped.
That’s the base recipe. Now here comes the fun part.
How to make flavored whipped cream
To make cheesecake flavored whipped cream you need heavy cream, powdered sugar and cheesecake instant pudding mix!
The box of instant pudding mix will add a lot of cheesecake flavor to your whipped cream.
Just to note, you’ll only use 2 tbsp of the instant pudding mix.
How to make cheesecake whipped cream topping
In a chilled bowl, combine the cream, powdered sugar and cheesecake instant pudding mix powder and beat with an electric mixer until the mixture is scoop-able and holds its shape. This could take 5-8 minutes.
This cheesecake whipped cream topping tastes just like a bite of your favorite plain cheesecake. A bit tangy, but incredibly smooth.
You can make this 3 ingredient flavored whipped cream ahead of time (I’d say a few hours max) and store in the fridge until ready to use.
Why didn’t I just use cream cheese to make cheesecake flavored whipped cream?
I wanted this whipped cream to be as light and fluffy as traditional whipped cream. Adding cream cheese would change the consistency of the whipped frosting resulting in a whipped cream cheese frosting. That wasn’t the effect I was after. I was looking for the best way to make whipped cream that tastes like cheesecake.
What to use flavored whipped cream on
Use this as frosting for cakes and cupcakes. Use it as a topping on pie – like strawberry pie, pumpkin pie, apple pie or on strawberry shortcake. Use it as fruit dip for strawberries, bananas, apples, etc. Use it on hot cocoa. Use it on pancakes or french toast.
