If you’ve been following along, you’ll know that I am crazy for themed treats.
It would be my dream to write a cookbook all about themed desserts – a section for christmas, halloween, valentine’s day, various birthday party themes, etc.
So I put on my (GOLD AND SPARKLY) thinking cap to come up with this year’s New Year’s Eve recipes.
Last year I was all about champagne. Disclaimer: I don’t even drink but baking with it can be pretty fun!
This year it’s all about GOLD. And sprinkles. So mainly gold sprinkles :)
And covering everything in edible gold spray paint. And all of those things came together to make this awesome recipe for midnight kiss cookies!
This cookie is very similar to those peanut butter blossoms that everyone loves, me included!
Instead of a straight peanut butter base for the cookie, I added cocoa powder to make the base peanut butter chocolate! I thought the chocolate base would help the gold hershey kiss pop.
Instead of using chocolate hershey kisses, I used the hugs (the white and chocolate stripped ones). I actually meant to buy the cookies n’ cream ones which are mainly white on the outside, because I thought those would be easiest to cover in gold spray paint since they are a light color.
But when I was at the grocery store, I totally forgot about my plan and quickly grab the first bag of semi-white kisses I saw because it was frantic at the grocery store and there was a huge shipping cart in front of the kisses so I could barely see them.
It ended up working out okay with the hugs! Although the ones shown in the pictures have 3 coats of spray paint on them. So if you’re really wanting GOLD kisses, it will take a few coats. Make sure to let the kisses dry in between each spraying.
Some of the kisses I rolled in gold sprinkles – I still sprayed them 3 times, just after the 3rd spray I quickly rolled each kiss in a bowl of gold sprinkles. The spray actually dries somewhat quickly, so you need to add the sprinkles as soon as you’re done spraying.
So there we have it – Midnight Kiss Cookies!
Yield: 2 dozen

These Midnight Kiss Cookies are the best New Year’s Eve cookie! There are a spin on everyone’s favorite peanut butter blossoms, with a chocolate cookie base and gold hershey’s kisses!
