Easy Banana Chocolate Chip Bread sliced on a wooden board.

Easy Banana Chocolate Chip Bread – this one bowl banana bread recipe takes about 10 minutes to prep! It’s one of the best banana bread recipes I’ve tried!

This Easy Banana Chocolate Chip Bread is one of those recipes that you can pull together in about 10 minutes.

I like to think of it as the perfect sunday afternoon recipe. I’ll be relaxing around the house and I’ll decide that I want banana bread. 10 minutes later, the bread is prepared and baking in the oven. And the best part? This banana bread is made in one bowl, so you’ll have less dishes to clean!

To be exact you’ll probably have one mixing bowl, one spatula, the 1/2 cup, the 1/3 cup, the 1 cup, and the teaspoon to clean. If you’re really wanting to cut corners, skip the 1 cup and just use the half cup twice :)

Making Easy Banana Chocolate Chip Bread

I thought it was pretty standard to put chocolate chips in banana bread. That’s how I grew up eating it. But then I met someone who’s mind was blown when I told them that I put chocolate chips in my banana bread. It’s funny because I don’t think I’ve ever made banana bread without chocolate chips.

That would be like making a PB&J without the jelly, it just doesn’t seem right :)

But if you really prefer your banana bread without chocolate chips, you can (gasp!) skip them.

If you’re all about the chocolate chips, lets do an air high five! But, I do have this teeny tiny weird obsession about banana bread and chocolate chips. I must use mini chocolate chips.

That way the chips are evenly distributed and I don’t end up with a large pile of melted chocolate in one area. If you only have regular chocolate chips on hand, you can give them a quick chop on a cutting board to get them into smaller pieces.

We also love making this Easy Banana Chocolate Chip Bread into banana bread muffins. That will cut the baking time down to about 15-20 minutes. I think you’ll fall in love with how easy this recipe is and how much it reminds you of the bread your mom or Grandma used to bake!

  1. Just came across this recipe today. Super easy to make, I had my 4 year old help and he loved helping! Just waiting for it to come out of the oven! Thanks for sharing this!

  2. Love this recipe. My son is obsessed with it and we make it at least once a month. Going to add a twist with peanut butter soon.

  3. I made this 4 times last week because my husband and son fought over it all week. They loved it! It was nuts! I finally got it together and times the recipe by 3. Hopefully it lasts a little longer this time around. Great recipe!

  4. Just made this and it is SO good! And so unbelievably easy! My boyfriend is the same as your friend- doesn’t like chocolate chips in his banana bread. I debated turning this into muffins as per your instructions so I could have mine with chocolate chips and he could have his without, but I kept it as a bread because I love the crunchy outside crust of banana bread.

    1. Glad you loved it! I have a hard time NOT putting chocolate chips in my banana bread!!

  5. I just realized I’ve never commented on this recipe, which is ridiculous, because we’ve probably made it at least, I dunno, 3 dozen times? It’s a total morning staple as muffins. We use melted butter instead of veg oil (I’m allergic to most of them), and don’t add the sugar. We also put the chips in as a topping, so that I get my dark chocolate, my oldest gets her caramel chips, and the youngest gets white chocolate chips. :) We LOVE IT! Thank you for sharing.

  6. I just put a loaf in the oven and my house smells heavenly on this dreary day ?. Just wanted to let you know how much I enjoy this recipe. My daughter discovered it and sent me the pin, and it is a family favorite. So simple and quick, her 4 year old can make it with very little help

  7. Made this recipe- short one banana so chopped up and apple. Used regular size milk chocolate chips. Turned out awesome!!! Easy too! Baked in convection oven.
